What is OSCA?

Australian skilled migration occupation lists, including the CSOL, currently use ANZSCO codes. The Australian Bureau of Statistics released the Occupation Standard Classification for Australia (OSCA) in December 2024 to replace ANZSCO, but the Department of Home Affairs has not yet adopted OSCA for visa processing. That transition is underway and requires amendments to the migration legislative instruments. We show both codes so you can identify your occupation under the operative ANZSCO framework and the incoming OSCA framework.

OSCA assigns a unique 6-digit code to each occupation, and the ABS publishes a correspondence between ANZSCO and OSCA codes. Until Home Affairs adopts OSCA, eligibility for skilled migration visas continues to be determined by ANZSCO occupation codes.
