How this is worked out
Each figure is the Department of Home Affairs base charge, from the Department of Home Affairs: current visa pricing page. The total is the main applicant's charge plus the charge for each other applicant, which differs for applicants 18 or over and under 18. One charge covers both stages of a partner visa (820 and 801, or 309 and 100).
For the 482, 186 and 494, the employer also pays a nomination fee (Department of Home Affairs: cost of sponsoring) and the Skilling Australians Fund levy, which depends on the employer's turnover and, for the 482, on each year or part year of the stay nominated (Federal Register of Legislation: SAF Charges Regulations 2018 (F2018L01092)).
Not included: health examinations, police certificates, skills assessments, English tests, translations, and professional fees. There is no card surcharge: Home Affairs stopped charging card surcharges from 1 October 2026. A Visitor visa (subclass 600) has no charge for additional applicants: each person applies separately and pays the full charge, so the estimator multiplies it by everyone you enter.
