Australasian Veterinary Boards Council
The Australasian Veterinary Boards Council (AVBC) assesses the Veterinarian occupation for Australian skilled migration, through a registration-based process that requires full Australian veterinary registration. Key Occupations
Veterinarian
Always verify the designated assessing authority for your specific ANZSCO occupation code on the Department of Home Affairs skilled occupation list before applying.
Assessment requirements
A registration-based assessment
The AVBC migration skills assessment is built on registration, not a documentary review of qualifications. The applicant must already hold full unconditional registration with an Australian veterinary registration board before applying for the migration skills assessment.
Pathway for overseas-trained veterinarians
Overseas-trained veterinarians whose degree is not recognised reach full registration through the separate Australasian Veterinary Examination. That examination runs in three stages, being eligibility, written and then clinical, and carries its own substantial fees.
How to apply
Confirm full unconditional registration first, then lodge the migration skills assessment with AVBC. Veterinarian is the single occupation assessed under ANZSCO 234711.
Validity
A positive AVBC migration skills assessment outcome is valid for three years. A renewal fee of $339.90 applies after that period.
Why Visa Plan for your skill assessment with Australasian Veterinary Boards Council (AVBC)?
Occupation confirmation
We confirm the correct CSOL occupation title and the designated assessing authority for your specific role before you apply, avoiding the cost of an incorrect application.
Application preparation
A complete, well-prepared application reduces the risk of delay or adverse outcome. We advise on documentation requirements, employment reference content, and how to present your qualifications and experience.
Migration strategy
A positive skills assessment is a prerequisite, not a migration plan. We build your complete migration strategy from the assessment through to visa grant or permanent residence.
