Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS)

Beyond the Qualifications Only route, AIQS offers four experience-based pathways: Pathway 1 requires an Australian accredited qualification plus at least one year of experience, Pathway 2 an Australian qualification plus two years, Pathway 3 an approved overseas qualification plus two years, and Pathway 4 membership of AIQS or a recognised peak body plus one year. AIQS states that professional experience must be gained after either the completion of the qualification or attaining relevant membership, and the degree must be in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management and Economics, with allied disciplines considered but not guaranteed.

Employment evidence turns on who signs it. AIQS requires that an appropriate supervisor has studied and graduated from a minimum of three years full time in Quantity Surveying or an allied discipline. Certified copies of qualifications must be in PDF format and dated within 12 months, the passport photo taken within four weeks of submission, and an English test approved by the Department of Home Affairs is required. PDF applications are no longer accepted; applicants complete the online form, then upload documents through a link emailed after submission.

AIQS warns that a Migration Skills Assessment may take up to five months to process. AIQS states a validity period of two years from the date on the assessment letter, with reassessment available within 24 months of that date.
