Assessment requirements
Documentary panel assessment
Assessment is documentary and is carried out by a GSM Assessment Panel. There is no examination.
Eligibility evidence
Applicants are assessed against the English-language and educational and professional requirements set out in the General Skilled Migration Guidelines. Supporting qualification and experience documents must accompany the application.
Scope of the result
A successful assessment is issued solely for skilled migration purposes. It does not confer ACPSEM membership and does not result in inclusion on any register.
Validity of the outcome
ACPSEM states that outcome letters for General Skilled Migration assessments are valid for three years, as mandated by the Department of Home Affairs. An Outcome Letter Renewal can be sought after three years for a further three years.
How ACPSEM assesses
ACPSEM requires a two-part lodgement. The skills assessment page directs applicants to read the General Skilled Migration Guidelines, complete the downloadable application form, and upload it with supporting documents through the Application and Payment Portal after creating an account. In addition to the digital upload, certified hard copies of identity documents, degree certificates, transcripts and English test results must be posted to the ACPSEM office in Bondi Junction, and the application is not processed until those hard copies are received and verified.
The ACPSEM portal notes that outcome letters are valid for three years and that English test results must have been achieved within two years of the application, so a renewal applicant who relied on a test originally must submit current results. A negative assessment can be appealed in writing, with the appeal stating the reasons for disagreement and any supplementary documents.
ACPSEM states that the assessment does not address competency in any medical physics sub-discipline and cannot be used to endorse proficiency in a single specialty, according to the skills assessment page. Applicants are notified by email when the application and all documents are received, the GSM Assessment Panel may request further evidence, and the outcome is emailed. ACPSEM does not give migration advice and refers such questions to the Department of Home Affairs.
