Employer Sponsorship
Temporary Activities Sponsorship
Temporary Activities Sponsorship is the approval required before an Australian organisation can sponsor workers under the Training visa (subclass 407) or any stream of the Temporary Activity visa (subclass 408). It is entirely separate from Standard Business Sponsorship and must be obtained independently.
Who needs it and what it covers
Any Australian organisation that wants to sponsor a worker under the 407 Training visa or any stream of the 408 Temporary Activity visa must first hold Temporary Activities Sponsorship. This includes the Entertainment, Invited Participant, Sporting, Religious Worker, and Australian Government Endorsed Event streams.
The applying organisation must be lawfully operating in Australia, demonstrate a genuine need for the sponsored activity, and commit to meeting the obligations of an approved sponsor. Specific stream requirements may apply depending on the type of activity and organisation.
Temporary Activities Sponsorship is approved for five years and can be held alongside Standard Business Sponsorship by the same organisation. Both approvals must be renewed independently before expiry.
Required for 407 and 408 visas
TAS is required to sponsor any worker under the 407 Training visa or any stream of the 408 Temporary Activity visa. Standard Business Sponsorship does not extend to these visa subclasses.
Wide range of eligible organisations
Businesses, sporting bodies, religious organisations, educational institutions, and event organisers can all apply, provided they can demonstrate a genuine need to sponsor the relevant activity.
Five-year approval period
TAS is approved for five years. It can be renewed before expiry. The organisation must continue to meet the eligibility criteria for the approval to remain valid.
Ongoing compliance obligations
TAS holders must ensure the activity is conducted as approved, maintain required records, not recover prohibited costs from visa holders, and notify the Department of relevant changes.

Stream-specific requirements
Each 408 stream has specific requirements for the sponsoring organisation. We advise on stream-specific requirements and ensure the sponsorship application satisfies them before lodgement.
Compliance management
We advise TAS holders on their ongoing compliance obligations and assist with responding to Department inquiries and audits throughout the approval period.
