408 Temporary Activity Visa

408 Entertainment Stream

The Entertainment stream of the Temporary Activity visa (subclass 408) allows performing artists, musicians, film and television production crew, and other entertainment industry workers to undertake short-term engagements in Australia.

Who the Entertainment stream covers

The stream covers a broad range of entertainment industry participants, including performers, directors, technical crew, production staff, and support personnel engaged for a specific production, tour, concert series, or event. The engagement must be defined and time-limited.

The Australian entity engaging the applicant must hold Temporary Activities Sponsorship approval. This is typically the production company, promoter, broadcaster, or venue. The sponsor accepts obligations to ensure the activity is conducted in accordance with the visa approval.

The stay period reflects the duration of the approved engagement, up to a maximum of two years. Visa holders may only perform the specific activity for which the visa was granted. General employment in the entertainment industry unrelated to the approved engagement is not permitted.
