Occupations assessed by Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA)

Aeroplane Pilot and Helicopter Pilot, assessed via CASA Form 079 where the applicant holds Australian flight crew qualifications.

Key Occupations

Aeroplane Pilot, Helicopter Pilot.

Always verify the designated assessing authority for your specific ANZSCO occupation code on the Department of Home Affairs skilled occupation list before applying.

Assessment requirements

A qualification and licence-based assessment

The CASA assessment is based on qualifications and licences, not a documentary review of qualifications and experience. CASA verifies that the applicant holds the Australian flight crew qualifications needed to work as a pilot.

How to apply

Pilots lodge CASA Form 079 through the myCASA portal. CASA then confirms the relevant Australian flight crew qualifications are held.

Aircraft maintenance engineers

Aircraft maintenance engineers are dealt with under Part 66 licensing and the recognition of foreign licences, rather than through this migration skills assessment. CASA does not assess them under Form 079.

Validity

Validity is not confirmed in accessible CASA material. The general Department of Home Affairs three-year usability rule applies to the assessment for visa purposes.

Why Visa Plan for your skill assessment with Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA)?

Occupation confirmation

We confirm the correct CSOL occupation title and the designated assessing authority for your specific role before you apply, avoiding the cost of an incorrect application.

Application preparation

A complete, well-prepared application reduces the risk of delay or adverse outcome. We advise on documentation requirements, employment reference content, and how to present your qualifications and experience.

Migration strategy

A positive skills assessment is a prerequisite, not a migration plan. We build your complete migration strategy from the assessment through to visa grant or permanent residence.
