Streamlined VETASSESS Trades Skills Assessment 2024

Starting April 23, 2024, VETASSESS will roll out significant updates to the trade skills assessment procedure. Here’s what applicants need to know:

Pre-Assessment Confirmation: Only Pay When Ready

Applicants will now submit their information and documents for initial review. We’ll ensure your application has sufficient evidence to be considered ‘assessment ready’ before payment is requested, meaning you’ll only pay the assessment fee once we’ve confirmed your readiness.

Updated Process for Pathway 1 Trade Applicants

Changes are on the horizon for Pathway 1 applicants across several trades, with the exception of Airconditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic, Electrician (General), Electrician (Special Class), and Plumber (General).

The Three-Step Assessment for Pathway 1:

Video Evidence Submission:

  • Provide video footage showcasing your trade skills as per the instructions in our updated Video Guide.
  • This guide will be available on our website from April 23, 2024.
  • If your video evidence doesn’t meet the required standards, our assessors will request a resubmission.

Online Course on Australian Industry Standards:

  • Complete an online module covering Australian industry standards related to your trade.
  • An end-of-course assessment will gauge your understanding.
  • Applicants have seven days to finish the assessment, with the option to revisit modules as needed.
  • Access details for the course will be provided after Stage 2 application acceptance and payment.

Technical Interview:

  • Successful online assessment and video submission will lead to booking your technical interview.
  • The interview can be conducted online or in person, lasting approximately two hours.
