The Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) is a permanent visa for skilled migrants. You must receive nomination from Victoria before you can apply for the visa.

Understanding Victoria’s 190 Visa Process

  1. Submit an ROI after having submitted the EOI on Skillselect.
  2. Using the EOI number received from SkillSelect, you will submit a ROI for Victorian nomination in the Live in Melbourne.
  3. Upon the approval of your ROI, you will receive an invitation to submit a nomination application.
  4. If your nomination application is successful, you will submit a visa application for your selected visa with the Australian Government’s Department of Home Affairs.

Assessment of ROIs

When assessing ROIs, Victoria considers the following factors according to the information you have provided in your EOI and ROI:

  • Age,
  • English language level,
  • Years of experience in your nominated occupation,
  • Education and occupation skill level,
  • Partner’s skill (if applicable),
  • Salary – onshore candidates only.

Certain occupations in the following industry sectors will also be prioritised:

  • Health
  • Social services
  • Information Communication Technology (ICT)
  • Early childhood and secondary education teachers
  • Advanced manufacturing
  • Infrastructure
  • Renewable energy
  • Hospitality and tourism – for the 491 visa
