Overseas workers, irrespective of their location, may apply to receive payments from the Construction Visa Subsidy Program (CVSP). Before applying, you will need to check your eligibility. Please refer to one of our posts if you want to find more about the CVSP. To apply for the CVSP, you will need to follow the steps as summarized below.
Step 1: Lodge an Expression of Interest (EOI)
You will need to begin the process by submitting an EOI in SkillSelect and selecting WA as the intended State of residence.
Step 2: Register with the Skilled Migrant Employment Register (SMER)
If you have not yet established a connection with an eligible WA employer, you can enter your details into the Skilled Migrant Employment Register (SMER). The SMER allows you to be connected with potential employers looking for skilled workers like you.
Step 3: Register Your Arrival and Visa Approval
Once you have received a State Nomination approval and skilled visa, you will need to should register your arrival and visa approval.
Step 4: Claim Your First Payment
Once you have commenced your employment with an eligible employer in WA and received your initial payslip, you can claim your first payment. To do so, you will need to complete and submit the Milestone 1 Claim Form.
Step 5: Claim Your Final Payment
Upon completing six (6) months of work within Western Australia’s construction industry, you can claim your final payment by completing the Milestone 2 Claim Form.
